Annual Budget Review Seminar: 17th June 2010Businesses around the globe are slowly rediscovering their past glory as the cloud of financial gloom continues to lift. Kenya, and indeed the East Africa region in general, is slowly but surely riding out the economic storm visited upon it by both the locally generated as well as the external crises. Thus, spurring this growth and restoring confidence has never been more important for individuals, businesses and the capital markets. This year’s National Budget will be read on 10th June 2010 and is expected to put in place measures that will reverse the adverse effects occasioned by the financial crisis and hence crystallize the economic recovery and cushion Kenyans against the harsh economic hardships they have experienced in the last few years. It is against this backdrop that our Institute has organized its 2010 Budget Review Seminar. The Seminar is an annual event that brings together members of our Institute and general public to discuss the Budget Statement and its implications to the taxpayer and the economy in general. A critical analysis of the budget proposals and their implications on our country’s economy will be done by a team of experts drawn from the Institute’s Taxation Team and Audit Firms. The areas to be covered include:
We have also invited a team from KRA and Treasury to respond to any issues emanating from the discussion. The seminar will be held on Thursday, 17th June 2010 at the Laico Regency Hotel, Nairobi from 8.30 a.m to 1.00 p.m. Charges for the seminar are Kshs 3,500 and Kshs. 5, 000 for members and non-members respectively to cover the costs of materials, refreshments, lunch and facilitation. Those not taking lunch will be allowed a discount of Kshs. 1,000 on the seminar fees. Similar sessions have also been organized in Nakuru, Kisumu, Mombasa and Nyeri as follows:
