(established under the Accountant Act, Laws of Kenya)

FINANCIAL REPORTING FOR THE EXTRACTIVE SECTOR (GAS & OIL)

3rd – 5th May 2017

Venue:  Acacia Premier Hotel, Kisumu

Theme: Towards Excellence in Financial Reporting

The extractive industry is one of the world’s most global industries accounting for a significant amount of revenue for countries that engage in mining. Many countries now require companies to prepare their financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Regulatory bodies in many other countries are converging national standards with IFRS. The move to adopt or harmonize with IFRS has advanced the transparency and comparability of financial statements around the world. It is against this backdrop that ICPAK has organized this seminar to focus on:

  • Global & Continental Overview of the Extractive Sector
  • Financial Reporting in the Extractive Sector Part 1
  • Key Project Planning & Management Skills in the Extractives Sector
  • Managing Governments, Communities and Other Stakeholders in the Sector
  • Auditing in the Extractive Sector – Key Developments
  • Financial Reporting for Extractive Sector Part II
  • Options and Developments in Financing for the Extractive Sector
  • Effective Communication for Professionals

Target Audience:

Individuals involved in the preparation, review or analysis of financial statements for entities in the mining sector that will be prepared under IFRS e.g. Government officers including ministry of lands and ministry of mining; Non-Governmental Organizations, Community Based Organizations; Accountants in Extractive Sector, Auditors, Tax and Financial Reporting Consultants
