FINANCIAL REPORTING AND MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE FOR COUNTY GOVERNMENTS

Theme: Towards More Inclusive Development

Date: 3rd – 5th April 2019

Venue: Kaskazi Beach Hotel,  Ukunda – South Coast – Mombasa, Kenya

BACKGROUND

The last six years have seen efforts to ensure devolution in Kenya is a success. Both the National and County Governments have made major strides to implement devolution with fully devolved functions, complete with requisite legislation, systems and structures to make it work. Further, most counties have put in place tools to strengthen and deepen devolution by setting up decentralized entities to help expand public engagement, decision-making and governance. According to National Treasury, the over Ksh 1.3 trillion that has gone to the counties in the last five years has ensured uninterrupted service delivery to strengthen capacity for public finance management, human resources as well as to monitor and evaluate county plans and conduct civic education.

In a series of ICPAK CPD events, this conference has been organized to uniquely explore emerging policy issues of devolution, explore their implications at strategic levels as well as tackle front-line service issues. This is a rare learning and networking opportunity for county executives, strategic directors, service directors, senior management teams, members of the county assembly and trade unions looking to develop a collaborative and engaging response to matters devolution.
