The growing number of accounting professionals in Kenya is laudable. However, growth comes with great expectations and challenges. Notable and most visible among the expectations and challenges is the issue of ethics in the financial reporting and governance. It is sad to note that accounting firms and professionals that were looked upon as the guardians of integrity in financial dealings have now been exposed in violation of the fiduciary responsibilities entrusted to them by their stakeholders. The question that many are asking is what is the profession doing to redeem its image and is there a complete failure in governance structures. Could better governance and oversight be the solution to the increasing ethical disgraces?
This two day New Business Laws and Professional Ethics Forum organized by ICPAK will reference itself to:
- Ethics and Ethical Dilemma in the profession
- Overview of New Business Legislations in Kenya (Insolvency Act/Business Registration Services Act/)
- Companies Act, 2015 (Directors/Auditors/Regulators etc)
- Tax Procedures Act, 2015
The Forum will be held on 7th – 8th April at Sirikwa Hotel, Eldoret. Charges are Kshs. 8,950 and Kshs. 10, 950 for ICPAK members and non members respectively. Associate members will pay Kshs. 6, 950. 14 CPD Hours will be awarded to members in attendance.
