A hotly debated topic, outsourcing is a tactic that many companies are undertaking for a variety of reasons depending on their vision for the future of their practice. Outsourcing can free up resources that could be better utilized for other purposes, it may enable practitioners to continue focusing on their core business, it may be part of the strategy to move into more business advisory work or it could be as basic as an approach to control operating costs. If you have outsourcing on your radar for your practice, then you will want to register for this forum.

  1. Pricing for professional services: How Do You Set Your Value?

Professional services have been difficult to price, especially in a developing economy and in the context of a startup SMP. With increasing pressure on professional services rates, it may be time for a fresh look at the subject so as to avoid undercutting which affects everyone in the profession.  In this forum, we will demonstrate that value driven pricing is viable, in fact preferred pricing model for driving profitability in professional services. We will look at the key elements of profitable pricing strategy in a professional service environment.  We will revisit ICPAK’s efforts in stabling the minimum fees guideline and if agreeable adopt a resolution to affirm the support of practitioners towards a mandatory fee guide in Kenya.

  1. Disciplinary Updates and Dealing with illegal practitioners – Open Forum

Invariably most disciplinary matters revolve around members in practice with engagement partners bearing the brunt. This session will present in a generic sense the key areas from which a number of disciplinary cases have arisen.  Additionally, members will receive and discuss the disciplinary process. Another matter that has and continues to present challenges to practitioners is that of quacks, (illegal practitioners), in this forum past efforts will be reviewed and if agreeable a road map be developed on dealing with this challenge for the coming one year.  One possible solution to deal with quacks in introducing an “audit certificate” in a similar fashion to that issued by Architects. This will be a secure paper, serialized and produced centrally by ICPAK and availed to every practicing member at the commencement of each year.  This is among the proposals to be considered for adoption and subsequent progression to Council.
