THE 28th ECONOMIC SYMPOSIUM

Theme: Economic Stewardship for Transformation and Shared Prosperity

12th – 14th February 2020

Overview

The country’s economy is experiencing fundamental changes which are anchoring a central promise of growth. This comes amidst a shortfall in revenue targets, an increase in pending bills and austerity measures being put in place. The nation is eager to see how the repeal of the interest rate cap, tax reforms and demonetization will inject positive drive into the economy. With release of the 2019 Census report, the nation is also expected to plan better for its citizenry in service delivery by taking advantage of the figures.

Themed, “Economic Stewardship for Transformation and Shared Prosperity”, the symposium seeks to explore strategies for effective and efficient management of resources for the benefit of present and future generations.

The 28th Economic Symposium will focus on:

  • Devolution into the 2nd implementation phase- Achieving accelerated growth
  • Tax reforms for economic competitiveness
  • Revenue sharing – the middle ground for counties and national government
  • Public debt ceiling – GDP vs Numerical threshold
  • Repeal of the Interest rate cap regime –reigniting private sector credit
  • Catalyzing Economic and MSME growth for wealth and job creation;
  • Population surge – positioning to reap from the demographic dividend – The 2019 Census report
  • Capitalizing on rapid urbanization for growth

National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Reimbursement

The Institute is registered as a trainer with National Industrial Training Authority. The Institute’s registration number is DIT/TRN/47. Participants who are registered levy contributors should apply to NITA for reimbursement of their fees. Please note that this is applicable for Kenyan citizens only and subject to NITA regulations.
