THE 5TH ICPAK PUBLIC LECTURE ON ETHICS AND ANTI-CORRUPTION

Corruption is an intricate socio-economic and political and economic phenomenon that affects many countries. It weakens democratic institutions, increases the cost of doing business, slows economic development and contributes to governmental instability.  In Kenya, it is approximated that the government is said to loses one third of the national budget to corruption. According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the government of Kenya loses one third of the national budget to corruption. This is the equivalent of approximately Kshs. 0.9 Trillion every year!

The United Nations Resolution No. 58/4 of October 31, 2003 declared December 9th the International Anti-Corruption Day (IAC). The Assembly designated this day, to raise awareness of corruption and of the role of the Convention in combating and preventing it.

To commemorate this day, the Institute of Public Accountants of Kenya(ICPAK)  in partnership with Kenya School of Government has  organized the 5th Annual Public Lecture on Ethics and Anti-Corruption to be held on  Wednesday 9th December at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete, Nairobi, starting at 2:00pm.
