OVERVIEW

The public sector is a significant part of the economy. Therefore, any improvement in public sector performance would influence economic growth and reduce stress on fiscal policy. The global accountancy profession, with its public interest mandate has a critical role to play in ensuring transparency and accountability in public sector financial management and reporting. Trust and reliability over information for accountable decision making is paramount

Financial reporting in Kenya has fundamentally changed over the past decade and the impact of this has been far reaching. The adoption of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSASs) and the reforms in public finance management have significantly increased the requirements in financial reporting. IPSAS underpins the quality and credibility of financial reporting and public confidence.

The Annual Public Sector Accountants Conference aims to bring together practitioners and scholars to exchange and share their experiences on key aspects of financial reporting in the public finance management cycle. It also provides a premier interdisciplinary platform to discuss the most recent trends and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered, and solutions adopted in the field of finance and accounting. Other important areas such as risk management, procurement as well as the ethical dilemma for professionals will also be discussed. CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT UNITS (CPD UNITS):

NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL TRAINING AUTHORITY (NITA) REIMBURSEMENT:
The Institute is registered as a trainer with National Industrial Training Authority. The Institute’s registration number is DIT/TRN/47. Participants who are registered levy contributors should apply to NITA for reimbursement of their fees. Please note that this is applicable for Kenyan citizens only and subject to NITA regulations.
