SUMMARY:THE 43RD ANNUAL SEMINAR EDITION 2 (physical option)
DESCRIPTION:INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountant Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nTHE 43RD ANNUAL SEMINAR EDITION 2\nTheme: Advancing Trust & Credibility in a changing World\nHYBRID EVENT: PRIDE INN PARADISE HOTEL\, / TEMBO INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE\, (PRIDE INN FLAMINGO) MOMBASA AND VIRTUAL\nDATES: MONDAY 9TH TO FRIDAY 13TH NOVEMBER 2026\nTIME: 09.00AM-03.30PM \nABOUT ICPAK – THE HOST \nThe Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) is a regulatory body mandated to regulate and coordinate the activities of qualified and registered Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) in Kenya – including promoting research into the subject of accountancy and finance and related matters\, publication of books\, periodicals\, journals and articles in connection therewith; promoting the international recognition of the Institute\, advising the Examination Board on matters relating to examinations standards and policies\, advising the Minister for Finance on matters relating to financial accountability in all sectors of the economy and setting and enforcing standards of professional practice such as accounting\, auditing and ethical standards. \nThe Institute is established by an Act of parliament – The Accountants Act and has been in existence since 1978.  Over its long history it has registered over 40\,000 members. Its members work in diverse sectors of the economy as accountants\, financial experts\, auditors\, financial consultants among other careers within the larger definition of accountancy. Over 1500 of our members have emigrated and are working beyond the borders of Kenya. Members of the Institute are present in 44 different countries around the globe. \nANNUAL SEMINARS – A BRIEF HISTORY \nFor over four decades\, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) has sustained a strong tradition of convening its members annually to reflect on the evolving accountancy profession and emerging issues shaping the national\, regional and global landscape. Since the inaugural Annual Seminar held in 1984\, the forum has grown into the Institute’s flagship professional development event\, symbolizing resilience\, unity and the profession’s unwavering commitment to the public interest. \nThis edition aims to discuss how trust and credibility remain fundamental to the functioning of economies\, institutions\, organizations and societies. In an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world\, the ability of institutions and professionals to earn\, maintain and restore trust is becoming more important than ever. The global environment is being shaped by economic uncertainty\, technological disruption\, changing patterns of work\, sustainability challenges\, geopolitical developments and increasing demands for transparency and accountability. These changes are reshaping how governments\, businesses and professional institutions operate and how citizens and stakeholders assess their credibility. \nFor Kenya\, these developments come at a particularly important time. The country continues to pursue economic transformation while navigating fiscal pressures\, public debt\, changing global economic conditions\, institutional challenges and the need for sustainable and inclusive growth. At the same time\, organizations are under increasing pressure to demonstrate not only financial performance\, but also responsible leadership\, sustainability\, resilience and long-term value creation. Against this backdrop\, the accountancy profession has a critical role to play. Accountants and other professionals are entrusted with financial information\, public resources\, organizational decision-making and the assurance of credibility. SUMMARY:ISA 220- Quality control for an audit of financial statements webinar
DESCRIPTION:INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nISA 220- Quality control for an audit of Financial Statements Webinar\nDate: 10th November  2026\nTime: 04.00pm-06.00pm\nDelivery Mode: Virtual \nOverview \nThe quality of an audit is fundamental to maintaining public trust in the accountancy profession and enhancing confidence in financial reporting. In an increasingly complex business environment characterized by evolving regulatory requirements\, technological advancements\, heightened stakeholder expectations\, and emerging risks\, audit firms and engagement teams are under greater pressure to consistently deliver high-quality audit engagements. \nRecognizing the need to strengthen audit quality\, the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) introduced a new suite of quality management standards\, including International Standard on Auditing (ISA) 220\, Quality Management for an Audit of Financial Statements. The revised standard shifts the focus from traditional quality control procedures to a proactive and risk-based approach to quality management at the engagement level. \nISA 220 places greater responsibility on the engagement partner for managing and achieving quality throughout the audit engagement. The standard emphasizes leadership\, professional skepticism\, appropriate direction and supervision of engagement teams\, effective use of resources\, and ongoing evaluation of whether quality objectives are being achieved. It also aligns with International Standard on Quality Management ISQM 1 and ISQM 2\, creating a comprehensive framework for managing audit quality at both the firm and engagement levels. \nAs firms continue to implement quality management systems\, it is essential for engagement partners\, managers\, auditors\, and quality reviewers to understand their responsibilities under ISA 220 and how these requirements translate into practical actions throughout the audit lifecycle. Effective application of the standard contributes to improved audit execution\, stronger documentation\, enhanced professional judgment\, and greater confidence in audit opinions. \nThis webinar will provide participants with practical insights into the requirements of ISA 220 (Revised)\, the role of the engagement partner in achieving audit quality\, and best practices for embedding quality management into audit engagements across different jurisdictions and practice environments. \n\nUnderstanding the New Quality Management Framework\nCommon challenges and lessons learned in establishing effective quality management systems.\nInteraction between ISA 220 (Revised)\, ISQM 1\, and ISQM 2\nLeadership responsibilities for managing and achieving quality on audits\nFirms system of quality management and role of engagement teams\nRelevant ethical requirements\, including those related to independence\nRole and responsibilities of the engagement partner\nConsultation & documentation requirements\n\nTarget Audience: \nThis webinar will be useful to all professional Accountants and those aspiring to join the profession\, Internal and External Auditors\, Consultants and Advisors \nContinuous Professional Development Units (CPDs):\nMembers of ICPAK and those from reciprocating professional bodies will be awarded 2 Structured CPD Units upon successful completion of the workshop. \nFinancial Commitment:\nThe workshop charges are Kshs. 1\,000.
