SUMMARY:ICPAK-IEBC Webinar - Transparent Elections\, Accountable Democracy
DESCRIPTION:INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nICPAK-IEBC Webinar Series – Transparent Elections\, Accountable Democracy\nTheme: Strengthening Trust in Electoral Governance through Transparency\, Accountability\, and Public Participation\nDate : 2nd October 2026\nTime: 3.00pm. – 5.00 p.m.\nVenue: Virtual \n1.0 Background and Context\nElectoral process in Kenya plays a significant role in determining the authoritative allocation of values and resources to safeguard public interests and solve public problems. The role of accountants in oversight\, representation and legislation cannot be overstated as they are the watchdogs and gatekeepers to ensure prudent\, effective and lawful application of resources for the benefit of the common citizens. Accountants are therefore duty-bound to participate in this important process that confers the oversight mandate as a noble responsibility that is easily identifiable with the values that the Institute and the accountancy fraternity espouse. \nTransparent and accountable elections are central to democratic legitimacy\, public trust\, peaceful political competition\, and effective governance. In Kenya\, electoral transparency continues to be a priority area as institutions\, political actors\, civil society\, professional bodies\, and citizens prepare for future electoral cycles. Key areas of public concern include campaign financing\, compliance by political parties and candidates\, the integrity of election technology\, voter education\, election observation\, dispute resolution\, and post-election accountability. \nRecent stakeholder engagement around campaign financing regulations and spending limits has reinforced the need for sustained public dialogue on electoral integrity. These discussions provide an opportunity to deepen understanding of the legal\, institutional\, financial\, technological\, and civic responsibilities required to deliver credible elections. The proposed webinar series will therefore create a platform for shared learning\, practical recommendations\, and multisectoral engagement on election transparency and accountability. \n2.0 Rationale\nThe credibility of elections depends not only on the conduct of polling day but also on the transparency of campaign financing\, the fairness of political competition\, the accountability of electoral institutions\, and the confidence of citizens in the entire electoral cycle. Weak oversight of campaign resources\, limited public access to electoral information\, misinformation\, gaps in civic education\, and concerns about technology can undermine trust in electoral outcomes. \nA focused webinar series will provide a timely forum for policy dialogue\, professional input\, and public education. It will also help stakeholders identify actionable reforms and practical accountability measures that can strengthen electoral governance before\, during\, and after elections. \nThe proposed webinar series will provide a timely and strategic platform for strengthening transparency\, accountability\, and trust in electoral governance. By bringing together institutional actors\, professional bodies\, political stakeholders\, civil society\, experts\, and citizens\, the series will contribute to practical conversations and reform-oriented recommendations that support credible\, inclusive\, and accountable elections. \n3.0 Overall Objective\nThe Webinar series are geared to promote informed dialogue\, stakeholder collaboration\, and practical reform proposals that strengthen transparency\, accountability\, public trust\, and integrity in electoral governance in Kenya. \n4.0 Specific Objectives\nSpecifically\, through the webinars the Institute in collaboration with IEBC aims to: \n\nPromote civic education and public communication on electoral transparency and accountability.\nFoster accountants contribution in electoral governance and processes.\nEnhance understanding of campaign finance regulation\, disclosure\, compliance\, and enforcement.\nExamine the role of technology\, observation\, and data integrity in promoting election credibility.\nStrengthen collaboration between the electoral body\, professional institutions\, civil society\, political parties\, and citizens.\nIdentify reforms and accountability mechanisms that can improve public confidence in electoral processes.\n\nSession 1: Campaign Financing\, Compliance\, and Accountability: Disclosure\, reporting\, auditing\, enforcement\, and oversight \nObjective: To examine the effectiveness of the campaign financing framework\, identify compliance challenges faced by political parties and candidates\, and explore reforms that can improve disclosure\, enforcement\, and public accountability. \nTarget Audience: \nThis webinar is open to all. \nContinuous Professional Development Units (CPDs):\nMembers of ICPAK and those from reciprocating professional bodies will be awarded 2 Structured CPD Units upon successful completion of the webinar. \nFinancial Commitment:\nThe webinar charges are Kshs. SUMMARY:ICPAK South African Chapter Overview of IFRS S1 and S2
DESCRIPTION:INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nICPAK South African Chapter – Overview of IFRS S1 and S2\nDate: 15th October 2026\nTime: 6:00pm – 8:00pm\nMode: Virtual \nOverview \nSustainability reporting has become an essential component of corporate accountability\, providing stakeholders with transparent\, consistent\, and reliable information on an organization’s environmental\, social\, and governance (ESG) impacts. In response to the growing demand for comparable sustainability information\, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) has developed a global framework through IFRS S1 and IFRS S2. IFRS S1\, General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information\, establishes a broad framework for communicating sustainability-related risks and opportunities\, while IFRS S2\, Climate-related Disclosures\, focuses specifically on climate-related risks and opportunities and their implications for an organization. \nFor organizations\, the adoption and implementation of these standards is increasingly important in strengthening transparency\, supporting investor confidence\, managing sustainability and climate-related risks\, and promoting long-term organizational resilience. Effective implementation requires organizations to address key operational and strategic considerations\, including data collection and management\, reporting processes\, assurance\, governance\, and disclosures relevant to investors and other stakeholders. Advances in technology and evolving regulatory requirements are also transforming sustainability reporting by enabling more effective data analysis\, improving reporting processes\, and supporting alignment with stakeholder expectations. \nThis webinar will provide valuable insights and guidance to help organizations navigate the evolving landscape of sustainability reporting with the below topics tackled: \n\nIntroduction to the ISSB Framework: The global shift from voluntary ESG reporting to mandatory sustainability financial disclosures.\nUnpacking IFRS S1General Requirements for sustainability-related financial information\n\n\nUnderstanding the four pillars: Governance\, Strategy\, Risk Management\, and Metrics & Targets.a\nIdentifying sustainability-related risks and opportunities that affect enterprise value.\n\n\nUnpacking IFRS S2 (Climate-related Disclosures):\n\n\nOverview of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions reporting (Scope 1\, Scope 2\, and Scope 3).\n\n\nEmerging trends and regulatory developments\n\nTarget Audience: \nThis webinar will be useful to all Professional Accountants and those aspiring to join the Profession Sustainability Practitioners\, Consultants\, Auditors\, Advisors \, Investors and Financial Analysts. \nCPD Units: Members who attend the webinar in full will earn 2 Structured CPD Units. \nFinancial Commitment: The Webinar charges are USD 25. SUMMARY:Sustainability Reporting Workshop 2026 Virtual
DESCRIPTION:INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nSustainability Reporting Workshop 2026\nTheme: : Advancing Sustainability Reporting: From Readiness to Implementation\nDate: 21st-22nd October 2026\nTime: 9.00am-3.30pm\nDelivery Mode: Virtual \nOverview \nCorporate reporting is undergoing a profound transformation as investors\, regulators\, lenders and other stakeholders increasingly demand transparent\, reliable and decision-useful information on sustainability-related risks and opportunities. Organizations are now expected to demonstrate not only their financial performance but also how environmental\, social and governance (ESG) factors influence their strategy\, governance\, risk management\, and long-term value creation. \nThe introduction of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1 and IFRS S2) by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) marks a significant milestone in the evolution of corporate reporting. These standards establish a global baseline for sustainability-related financial disclosures\, enabling organizations to provide consistent\, comparable and investor-focused sustainability information alongside their financial statements. \nIn Kenya\, the publication of the ICPAK Roadmap for Adoption of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards signals a strategic commitment to advancing sustainability reporting and aligning the country’s reporting framework with international best practice. Consequently\, sustainability reporting is rapidly transitioning from a voluntary practice to an essential component of corporate reporting and governance. \nDespite these developments\, many organizations remain inadequately prepared to implement the new reporting requirements. Preparers of financial statements and sustainability reports continue to face significant challenges in understanding the principles underpinning IFRS S1 and IFRS S2. They encounter challenges in identifying material sustainability-related risks and opportunities\, collecting reliable data\, establishing effective governance structures and integrating sustainability information into existing reporting processes. \nAs organizations embark on this transition\, there is an urgent need to build technical capacity among finance professionals\, accountants and report preparers to ensure that sustainability disclosures are credible\, consistent\, comparable and decision-useful. Equally important is strengthening institutional readiness to support effective implementation and compliance with the emerging reporting landscape including GHG accounting and as well as sustainability assurance readiness. \nThis symposium has therefore been designed to equip participants with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to understand and implement the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards. Successful implementation of this training will significantly enhance the quality and reliability of sustainability reporting across both the public and private sectors. \nThe workshop will focus on the following key topics:\n1. Understanding Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1 & S2) \nDetailed discussion of the objectives\, scope\, structure and key disclosure requirements of IFRS S1 & S2 & the Roadmap for adoption of IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards. \n2. Materiality and Sustainability-related financial information. \nApplication of materiality principles\, identification of sustainability-related risks and opportunities and determining information relevant to investors.\n3. Climate-related Financial Disclosures \nGovernance\, strategy\, risk management\, metrics & targets and climate-related financial risks under IFRS S2. \n4. Preparing Quality Sustainability Reports (2 practical sessions)\nPractical guidance on data collection\, internal controls\, governance arrangements\, reporting processes and enhancing the credibility of sustainability information. \n5. Integrating Financial and Sustainability Reporting\nStrengthening connectivity between financial statements and sustainability disclosures to provide holistic corporate reporting. \n6. GHG emission accounting\nUnderstanding GHG emission accounting\, the GHG Protocol and scopes 1\,2\, and 3 \n7. Sustainability assurance\nAn oversee and appreciation of the requirements of ISSA 5000 for effective sustainability assurance readiness and implementation. \nTARGET AUDIENCE \nMembers of Boards in public and private corporations\, Chief Finance Officers\, Finance Directors and Managers\, Private and Public Audit Practitioners\, Public Sector Accountants\, Transaction Advisors\, Engagement Partners and Key Audit staff\, Banking\, Financial services sector Accountants\, Internal Auditors\, Tax Practitioners\, Professionals working in Government and private sectors\, Accountants in Academia\, current and potential members of ICPAK\, members of other professional associations. \nContinuous Professional Development Units (CPD Units): \nMembers of ICPAK and reciprocating professional bodies will be awarded 10 CPD Units upon successfully attending the session. \nCost: \nCharges for the training will be Kes 10\,000/= which will cover workshop fees\, materials\, and e-certificates of attendance. \nOnline Booking: \nWe call on Seminar participants to note that booking for is available only online at www.icpak.com/events and will close two hours before the training session.  Delegates are reminded to note that online booking for training sessions is mandatory.   This is available either online at www.icpak.com/events  or on the ICPAK Live – A smart phone-based application that is available from google store. \nNational Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Reimbursement: \nThe Institute is registered as a trainer with National Industrial Training Authority. SUMMARY:ISQM 1 and 2 Webinar October 2026
DESCRIPTION:INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nISQM 1 and 2 Webinar 2026\nDate: 28st October  2026\nTime: 04.00pm-06.00pm\nDelivery Mode: Virtual \nOverview \nThe International Standard on Quality Management 1 (ISQM 1) enhances quality management systems for firms performing audits or reviews of financial statements\, other assurance or related services engagements. It promotes a proactive and effective approach to quality management\, encouraging firms to design a system tailored to their specific circumstances. ISQM 1 replaces ISQC 1\, which focuses on quality control for firms performing audits and reviews of financial statements and related services engagements. SUMMARY:The Future of The Accountancy Profession Webinar
DESCRIPTION:THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nThe Future of The Accountancy Profession\nTheme: Shaping the Future of Accountancy: Artificial Intelligence\, Sustainability Reporting and Professional Ethics\nDate: 30th October 2026\nVenue: Virtual\nTime: 10:00am – 12:00Noon (EAT) \nOverview \nThe accountancy profession is experiencing a period of significant transformation driven by technological innovation\, evolving sustainability reporting requirements\, changing business models and heightened expectations of ethical leadership and accountability. As organisations navigate an increasingly complex operating environment\, accountants are expected to go beyond traditional financial reporting and compliance responsibilities to provide strategic insights\, strengthen governance\, support sustainable decision-making and safeguard public trust. \nArtificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies are changing how accounting and auditing activities are performed. From automating routine processes and analysing large datasets to identifying anomalies and supporting risk assessments\, these technologies offer opportunities to improve efficiency\, accuracy and the value of professional services. However\, their adoption also raises important considerations relating to data privacy\, confidentiality\, algorithmic bias\, professional judgement\, accountability and the need for appropriate human oversight. \nAt the same time\, sustainability reporting is becoming an increasingly important component of corporate accountability and decision-making. The introduction of sustainability disclosure standards\, including IFRS S1 and IFRS S2\, has increased the need for organisations to identify and disclose material sustainability-related risks and opportunities. This presents accountants with opportunities to support implementation\, strengthen reporting systems\, improve the reliability of sustainability information and contribute to assurance engagements. \nThese developments reinforce the importance of professional ethics\, integrity\, independence\, objectivity and professional competence. As the profession adopts new technologies and assumes broader responsibilities\, accountants must ensure that innovation and business transformation remain grounded in ethical conduct and the public interest. \nThe Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) will convene a high-impact expert webinar which will bring together experienced practitioners and thought leaders to examine the forces reshaping accountancy\, explore emerging opportunities and challenges\, and identify practical actions that professionals can take to remain relevant\, trusted and future-ready. \nThe session will provide a platform for knowledge exchange\, professional reflection and forward-looking discussion on the evolving role of accountants in a technology-driven\, sustainability-conscious and ethically demanding business environment. \nTopical areas of discussion: \n\nArtificial Intelligence and the Transformation of Accountancy\nSustainability Reporting and the Expanding Role of Accountants\nProfessional Ethics\, Trust and Accountability\nThe Future-Ready Accountant: Skills\, Opportunities and Professional Relevance\n\nTarget Audience \nThis workshop will be useful to all professional Accountants and those aspiring to join the profession. \nCPD Units \nMembers of ICPAK and reciprocating professional bodies will be awarded 2 CPD Units upon successfully attending each of the sessions. \nFinancial Commitment \nThe webinar is free of charge \nOnline Booking: \nWe call on Seminar participants to note that booking for is available only online at www.icpak.com/events and will close two hours before the training session.  Delegates are reminded to note that online booking for training sessions is mandatory.   This is available either online at www.icpak.com/events  or on the ICPAK Live – A smart phone-based application that is available from google store. \nNita Reimbursement: \nThe Institute is registered as a trainer with National Industrial Training Authority.
