SUMMARY:Effective Whistleblowing policies and practices webinar
DESCRIPTION:THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nEffective Whistleblowing policies and practices webinar\nDate:  1st September 2026\nTime: 04.00pm-06.00pm\nVenue: Virtual Delivery \nOverview \nOrganizations today operate in an environment where accountability\, transparency\, and ethical leadership are increasingly demanded by regulators\, investors\, employees\, and the public. As fraud\, corruption\, harassment\, and other forms of misconduct continue to threaten institutional credibility and sustainability\, whistleblowing has emerged as a critical governance tool for early detection and timely intervention. However\, the effectiveness of whistleblowing largely depends on whether organizations have well-designed frameworks that encourage reporting and ensure that concerns are handled professionally and fairly. \nA strong whistleblowing policy provides a structured foundation for reporting unethical practices and misconduct while defining clear responsibilities for management\, audit committees\, compliance officers and internal audit functions. It establishes the scope of reportable issues\, sets out reporting procedures and creates accountability mechanisms that ensure disclosures are treated seriously. Without such a policy\, organizations risk inconsistent handling of cases\, loss of trust\, and increased exposure to reputational and financial damage. \nFor whistleblowing systems to work\, organizations must provide secure reporting channels and guarantee confidentiality to protect whistleblowers from exposure. Equally important is the establishment of safeguards against retaliation\, as fear of victimization remains one of the biggest barriers to reporting. By reinforcing protection measures and ensuring impartial investigations and proper case handling procedures\, institutions strengthen internal control systems and create confidence that wrongdoing will be addressed without bias or intimidation. \nDelegates will gain a comprehensive understanding of employer responsibilities\, the protections available to whistleblowers\, and the essential steps required to strengthen whistleblowing and speak-up policies. Participants will be equipped with practical insights on designing secure reporting frameworks\, ensuring confidentiality safeguards\, managing retaliation risks\, and enhancing investigation and case-handling procedures to build a credible and effective whistleblowing system. \n\nIntroduction to whistleblowing and the Legal Framework\nEstablishing Secure Reporting Channels and Confidentiality – Anonymous reporting mechanisms\, Confidentiality safeguards and data protection\, Third-party reporting systems and independence\nWhistleblower Protection and Managing Retaliation – \nInvestigations and Case Handling Procedures\nFostering a Supportive Culture –Building openness and transparency\, Characteristics of a supportive environment for whistleblowers\, Effective communication strategies\, Internal and external support resources\nBuilding a Speak-Up Culture and Ethical Leadership\n\nTarget Audience: \nThis workshop will be useful to all Professional Accountants and those aspiring to join the Profession\, Data and Business Analysts\, Governance\, Risk\, and Compliance (GRC) Officer\, Auditors\, Advisors\, Investors and Financial Analysts \n Continuous Professional Development Units (CPD UNITS): \nMembers of ICPAK and reciprocating professional bodies will be awarded 2 Structured CPD Units upon successfully completion of the webinar. \nFinancial Commitment \nThe webinar charges are Kshs. 1\,000. SUMMARY:IFRS 16-Leases Webinar
DESCRIPTION:THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nIFRS 16-Leases Webinar\nDate: 8th September 2026\nTime: 04.00pm-06.00pm\nVenue: Virtual Delivery \nOverview \nThe adoption of IFRS 16: Leases is one of the most significant changes in financial reporting in recent years. This has fundamentally transformed the accounting treatment of lease transactions. The standard adopted a unified lessee accounting model\, requiring lessees to recognize leases in the statement of financial position by establishing a right-of-use asset and a corresponding lease liability. \nDespite IFRS 16 having been effective for several years\, financial statement reviews continue to reveal inconsistencies in lease identification\, measurement\, reassessment\, and disclosure practices. Additionally\, evolving business models\, economic uncertainties\, and complex contractual arrangements continue to create new challenges for preparers and auditors of financial statements. \nProfessional accountants in practice play a critical role in supporting organizations to achieve compliance with IFRS 16 through the preparation\, review\, audit\, and interpretation of financial statements. As businesses continue to adopt increasingly complex leasing arrangements\, there is a growing need for accountants to strengthen their understanding of the practical application of IFRS 16 and emerging implementation issues. \nThe webinar seeks to bridge knowledge gaps and equip professional accountants with practical skills necessary to apply IFRS 16 effectively while enhancing compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). \nBy the end of the webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nApply the key recognition and measurement principles of IFRS 16.\nIdentify contracts that contain leases.\nCalculate and account for lease liabilities and right-of-use assets.\nAccount for lease modifications and reassessments.\nEvaluate disclosure requirements under IFRS 16.\nIdentify and address common compliance challenges in lease accounting.\nImprove the quality and consistency of financial reporting relating to leases.\n\nTarget Audience \nThis training is primarily intended for preparers of financial statements and assurance professionals\, though not limited to accountancy practitioners; staff from other units are highly encouraged to attend.  \nContinuous Professional Development Units (CPD UNITS): \nMembers of ICPAK and reciprocating professional bodies will be awarded 2 Structured CPD Units upon successfully completion of the webinar. \nFinancial Commitment \nThe webinar charges are Kshs. 1\,000. Charges will cater for online video access fees\, learning materials\, and e-certificates of attendance. \nOnline Booking \nRegistration: Delegates are reminded to note that online booking for the workshop is mandatory on https://www.icpak.com/event-registration/Online Booking \nWe call on interested participants to note that booking for the event is available online at www.icpak.com  and will close two hours before the training session. \nNational Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Reimbursement \nThe Institute is registered as a trainer with National Industrial Training Authority. SUMMARY:Enhancement of compliance from reviews webinar
DESCRIPTION:THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nEnhancement of Compliance from Reviews webinar\nDate: 22nd September 2026\nTime: 04.00pm-06.00pm\nVenue: Virtual Delivery \nOverview \nThe Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) conducts practice reviews and quality assurance assessments to promote adherence to professional standards\, ethical requirements\, and regulatory obligations among accounting professionals and firms. These reviews provide valuable feedback on the effectiveness of quality management systems\, audit methodologies\, documentation practices\, independence requirements\, and compliance with applicable professional standards. The findings and recommendations arising from such reviews offer an opportunity for firms and practitioners to identify weaknesses and implement measures that strengthen compliance and improve the quality of professional services. \nThe purpose of this initiative is to enhance compliance through the effective implementation of recommendations arising from ICPAK reviews. By addressing identified gaps and strengthening internal controls\, firms can improve adherence to professional and ethical standards\, reduce the risk of regulatory breaches\, and enhance the quality and reliability of their services. The initiative seeks to foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within professional practice. \nTo achieve this objective\, firms will review and analyze findings from ICPAK review reports\, develop corrective action plans\, and implement measures to address identified deficiencies. This will include reviewing and updating policies and procedures\, strengthening quality management systems\, improving documentation and record-keeping practices\, and providing targeted training to staff on professional and regulatory requirements. Periodic internal reviews and monitoring activities will also be undertaken to assess progress and ensure sustained compliance. \nThe expected outcome of this initiative is improved compliance with ICPAK requirements\, professional standards\, and ethical obligations. Enhanced compliance will contribute to higher-quality audit\, assurance\, and accounting services\, strengthen stakeholder confidence\, and reduce the recurrence of findings in future reviews. In addition\, stronger governance\, risk management\, and internal control processes will support the long-term sustainability and reputation of firms and practitioners. \nThe reviews serve as an important mechanism for promoting professional excellence and regulatory compliance within the accounting profession. By proactively addressing review findings and implementing recommended improvements\, firms and practitioners can strengthen their compliance frameworks\, improve service quality\, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. \nTraining areas \n\nOverview of ICPAK Practice Reviews and areas of improvement\nISQM 1 and ISQM 2 Compliance\nEthics and Independence Requirements\nApplication of International Standards on Auditing (ISAs)\nMonitoring and Internal Compliance Reviews\nAnti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing Compliance\nImplementation of Review Recommendations\nTechnology and Quality Management\n\nTarget Audience \nThis webinar will be useful to all professional Accountants. \n Continuous Professional Development Units (CPD UNITS): \nMembers of ICPAK and reciprocating professional bodies will be awarded 2 Structured CPD Units upon successfully completion of the webinar. \nFinancial Commitment \nThe webinar charges are Kshs. 1\,000. For accountants\, auditors\, finance professionals\, and business leaders who often work in high-pressure settings\, the ability to manage stress while maintaining sound professional judgment is critical. \nResilience enables professionals to adapt positively to challenges\, recover from setbacks\, and remain focused during periods of uncertainty and change. It goes beyond coping with pressure; it is the capacity to learn\, grow\, and thrive despite adversity. Resilient professionals demonstrate emotional intelligence\, adaptability\, optimism\, and effective problem-solving skills\, which strengthen leadership\, teamwork\, communication\, and overall organizational performance. \nCreating mentally healthy workplaces requires shared commitment from both individuals and organizations. Leaders play a key role in fostering supportive environments that promote open communication\, psychological safety\, work-life balance\, and proactive stress management. Organizations that invest in employee well-being and resilience benefit from stronger engagement\, reduced absenteeism\, improved collaboration\, and higher levels of innovation and performance. \nThis webinar will equip participants with practical knowledge and evidence-based strategies for managing workplace stress and building resilience in demanding professional environments. Through expert presentations\, practical exercises\, and interactive discussions\, participants will learn how to recognize stress indicators\, strengthen emotional resilience\, improve coping mechanisms\, and maintain performance while safeguarding their mental well-being. \nRecognizing that resilient professionals are better positioned to deliver high-quality services\, exercise sound judgment\, and lead effectively through change\, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) has organized this webinar to support members in strengthening stress management\, resilience\, and personal well-being. SUMMARY:International Non-Profit Accounting Standards (INPAS)-webinar
DESCRIPTION:THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nInternational Non-Profit Accounting Standards (INPAS)-webinar\nDate: 13th October 2026\nTime: 04.00pm-06.00pm\nVenue: Virtual Delivery \nOverview \nThe International Non-Profit Accounting Standard (INPAS) represents a landmark development in financial reporting for the non-profit sector. Launched in October 2025 as the first globally recognized accounting standard specifically designed for non-profit organizations (NPOs)\, INPAS provides a unified\, accrual-based framework tailored to the unique characteristics of nonprofits. Unlike traditional standards such as IFRS or national GAAP\, which primarily serve for-profit entities\, INPAS addresses sector-specific challenges including diverse funding sources\, donor restrictions\, and grant reporting. It emerged from the International Financial Reporting for Non-Profit Organisations (IFR4NPO) project\, led by CIPFA and Humentum\, following extensive global consultations over six years involving stakeholders from more than 40 countries. \nINPAS is built upon the foundation of the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard\, adapting and extending it to better reflect non-profit realities. It applies to small\, medium\, and large NPOs that use accrual accounting\, offering guidance for preparing whole-of-entity financial statements that meet the needs of a wide range of users\, including donors\, regulators\, and beneficiaries. The standard emphasizes producing transparent\, credible\, and comparable financial reports while reducing inconsistencies that arise when NPOs apply multiple or mismatched frameworks across jurisdictions and funders. \nA core objective of INPAS is to enhance transparency\, accountability\, and trust in non-profit finances worldwide. It tackles long-standing issues such as the recognition and measurement of grants and donations\, the clear distinction and presentation of restricted versus unrestricted funds\, and the integration of meaningful narrative reporting alongside financial data. By providing specific rules for these areas\, INPAS helps ensure that financial statements deliver decision-useful information\, enabling stakeholders to better understand an organization’s resource allocation\, performance\, and compliance with donor intentions. \nThe standard covers comprehensive recognition\, measurement\, presentation\, and disclosure requirements customized to non-profit activities and funding models. It includes a Practice Guide for harmonized grant reporting\, which aims to streamline compliance across different funders and significantly reduce the administrative burden on NPOs that previously faced duplicative or conflicting reporting demands. This harmonization is expected to improve efficiency\, cut compliance costs\, and foster greater consistency in how financial information is communicated globally. \nINPAS promotes comparability across borders and organizations\, allowing donors\, governments\, and the public to more reliably assess and compare non-profits regardless of location or size. ICPAK has endorsed the use of the standards and early uptake is anticipated to build credibility and support informed decision-making. The standard’s standalone nature means NPOs can apply it independently\, though publicly accountable entities must make appropriate disclosures if choosing INPAS over full IFRS. \nOverall\, INPAS marks the non-profit sector’s alignment with the kind of standardized\, high-quality financial reporting long available to for-profit entities. By establishing a single\, sector-dedicated benchmark\, it seeks to strengthen donor confidence\, facilitate cross-border operations\, and ultimately contribute to more effective and trustworthy non-profit work worldwide. As implementation progresses\, ongoing guidance and resources from the International Non-Profit Reporting Foundation (INPRF) will support the transition for organizations adopting the standard. Join us for this webinar to get more insights on the standard. \n Target Audience \nThis webinar will be useful to all professional Accountants. \n Continuous Professional Development Units (CPD UNITS): \nMembers of ICPAK and reciprocating professional bodies will be awarded 2 Structured CPD Units upon successfully completion of the webinar. \nFinancial Commitment \nThe webinar charges are Kshs. 1\,000. SUMMARY:AML and CFT Audit webinar
DESCRIPTION:NSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nAML and CFT Audit webinar\nDate: 3rd November  2026\nTime: 04.00pm-06.00pm\nDelivery Mode: Virtual \nOverview \nConducting an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) audit is a critical process for auditors\, financial institutions\, regulated entities and other designated professionals to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. These audits evaluate the effectiveness of an organization’s policies\, procedures\, and controls designed to detect\, prevent\, and report money laundering and terrorist financing activities. Auditors assess whether the institution maintains a robust risk-based approach\, adhering to standards set by bodies such as the Financial Action Task Force (FATF)\, local regulators\, and international guidelines. The primary goal is to identify weaknesses that could expose the organization to financial crime risks\, reputational damage\, or regulatory penalties. Successful audits require a combination of technical expertise\, independence\, and a thorough understanding of evolving threats in the global financial ecosystem. \nThe planning phase sets the foundation for a successful AML/CFT audit. Auditors begin by defining the scope\, objectives\, and timeline\, considering factors like the institution’s size\, customer base\, product offerings\, and geographic operations. A comprehensive risk assessment is conducted to prioritize high-risk areas\, such as correspondent banking\, trade finance\, or dealings with high-risk jurisdictions. Documentation review includes examining the AML/CFT policy framework\, customer due diligence (CDD) procedures\, and transaction monitoring systems. Engagement with key stakeholders\, including compliance officers and senior management\, helps align expectations and gather preliminary insights. Proper planning ensures resources are allocated efficiently and that the audit remains focused on material risks. \nRisk assessment forms the core of the audit methodology. Auditors evaluate the institution’s enterprise-wide risk assessment to determine if it accurately identifies\, measures\, and mitigates AML/CFT exposures. This involves analysing customer risk profiles\, enhanced due diligence (EDD) for politically exposed persons (PEPs)\, and sanctions screening processes. Data analytics tools are often employed to review transaction patterns\, flag suspicious activities\, and test the effectiveness of automated monitoring systems. Qualitative factors\, such as staff training programs and the “tone from the top” in fostering a culture of compliance\, are also scrutinized. Any gaps in risk identification can indicate systemic vulnerabilities that require immediate attention. \nFieldwork and testing procedures involve detailed examination of controls and operations. Auditors perform walkthroughs of key processes\, sample testing of customer files for proper KYC (Know Your Customer) documentation\, and validation of suspicious activity report (SAR) filings. Independent testing of transaction monitoring rules helps verify detection accuracy and false positive rates. Interviews with frontline staff and compliance teams reveal practical implementation challenges. Technology audits may include assessing the reliability of core banking systems and data integrity. These hands-on activities ensure that theoretical policies translate into effective day-to-day practices. \nEvaluation of findings focuses on the adequacy and effectiveness of the AML/CFT program. Auditors rate controls as effective\, partially effective\, or ineffective based on evidence gathered. Common deficiencies include inadequate customer identification\, weak ongoing monitoring\, or insufficient independent testing of the compliance function. Root cause analysis is performed to understand underlying issues\, such as resource constraints or outdated technology. The audit team also benchmarks the institution against industry best practices and regulatory expectations\, providing a holistic view of compliance maturity. This step is crucial for prioritizing remediation efforts. \nThe reporting and follow-up stage closes the audit cycle with actionable recommendations. A clear\, well-structured report is delivered to management and the board\, highlighting strengths\, weaknesses\, and prioritized remedial actions with timelines. Follow-up mechanisms ensure that agreed-upon corrective measures are implemented and tested in subsequent reviews. Continuous monitoring and periodic re-audits help adapt to emerging risks\, such as those posed by new technologies like cryptocurrencies or virtual assets. Ultimately\, a well-conducted AML/CFT audit strengthens the organization’s defenses\, promotes regulatory adherence\, and contributes to the broader fight against financial crime. \nTarget Audience: \nThe webinar will be useful to accountants\, auditors\, academia\, and other designated professionals interested AML and CFT audit \n Continuous Professional Development Units (CPDs):\nMembers of ICPAK and those from reciprocating professional bodies will be awarded 2 Structured CPD Units upon successful completion of the workshop. \nFinancial Commitment:\nThe workshop charges are Kshs. 1\,000. SUMMARY:ISA 220- Quality control for an audit of financial statements webinar
DESCRIPTION:INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nISA 220- Quality control for an audit of Financial Statements Webinar\nDate: 10th November  2026\nTime: 04.00pm-06.00pm\nDelivery Mode: Virtual \nOverview \nThe quality of an audit is fundamental to maintaining public trust in the accountancy profession and enhancing confidence in financial reporting. In an increasingly complex business environment characterized by evolving regulatory requirements\, technological advancements\, heightened stakeholder expectations\, and emerging risks\, audit firms and engagement teams are under greater pressure to consistently deliver high-quality audit engagements. \nRecognizing the need to strengthen audit quality\, the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) introduced a new suite of quality management standards\, including International Standard on Auditing (ISA) 220\, Quality Management for an Audit of Financial Statements. The revised standard shifts the focus from traditional quality control procedures to a proactive and risk-based approach to quality management at the engagement level. \nISA 220 places greater responsibility on the engagement partner for managing and achieving quality throughout the audit engagement. The standard emphasizes leadership\, professional skepticism\, appropriate direction and supervision of engagement teams\, effective use of resources\, and ongoing evaluation of whether quality objectives are being achieved. It also aligns with International Standard on Quality Management ISQM 1 and ISQM 2\, creating a comprehensive framework for managing audit quality at both the firm and engagement levels. \nAs firms continue to implement quality management systems\, it is essential for engagement partners\, managers\, auditors\, and quality reviewers to understand their responsibilities under ISA 220 and how these requirements translate into practical actions throughout the audit lifecycle. Effective application of the standard contributes to improved audit execution\, stronger documentation\, enhanced professional judgment\, and greater confidence in audit opinions. \nThis webinar will provide participants with practical insights into the requirements of ISA 220 (Revised)\, the role of the engagement partner in achieving audit quality\, and best practices for embedding quality management into audit engagements across different jurisdictions and practice environments. \n\nUnderstanding the New Quality Management Framework\nCommon challenges and lessons learned in establishing effective quality management systems.\nInteraction between ISA 220 (Revised)\, ISQM 1\, and ISQM 2\nLeadership responsibilities for managing and achieving quality on audits\nFirms system of quality management and role of engagement teams\nRelevant ethical requirements\, including those related to independence\nRole and responsibilities of the engagement partner\nConsultation & documentation requirements\n\nTarget Audience: \nThis webinar will be useful to all professional Accountants and those aspiring to join the profession\, Internal and External Auditors\, Consultants and Advisors \nContinuous Professional Development Units (CPDs):\nMembers of ICPAK and those from reciprocating professional bodies will be awarded 2 Structured CPD Units upon successful completion of the workshop. \nFinancial Commitment:\nThe workshop charges are Kshs. 1\,000. SUMMARY:IPSAS Accrual webinar
DESCRIPTION:INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nIPSAS Accrual\nTheme: Enhancing Transparency and Accountability Through Effective Application of Accrual-Based IPSAS\nDate: 24th November 2026\nTime: 4:00-6:00pm\nDelivery Mode: Virtual \nOverview \nAccrual-based IPSAS strengthens public sector financial management by improving transparency\, accountability\, and decision-making. By recognizing assets\, liabilities\, revenues\, and expenses when they occur\, it provides a fuller and more accurate view of an entity’s financial position and performance. \nMoving to IPSAS Accrual is more than an accounting change; it reshapes how public sector organizations plan\, manage\, and report finances. SUMMARY:Leadership by Design- Practical Tips for New Managers and Supervisors
DESCRIPTION:INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nLeadership by Design- Practical Tips for New Managers and Supervisors\nDate: 8th December  2026\nTime: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM\nDelivery Mode: Virtual \nOverview \nLeadership by design is the deliberate practice of shaping your leadership approach with intention rather than allowing it to emerge reactively from daily pressures. For new managers\, this means treating leadership as a craft you actively engineer—defining your values\, systems\, and behaviours upfront. Leaders start by conducting a personal audit: reflect on your strengths\, past experiences\, and the kind of leader you want to become. This foundational clarity prevents you from defaulting to old habits or mimicking ineffective bosses\, creating a consistent leadership identity from day one. \nOne practical tip is to design clear structures for goal setting and accountability. New managers often struggle with ambiguity\, so implement weekly one-on-ones and quarterly engagements tailored to your team. Use simple templates to align individual tasks with broader team objectives and make progress visible through shared dashboards or boards. By designing these rhythms early\, you foster predictability and momentum. This system not only drives results but also signals to your team that leadership is thoughtful and organized\, building trust faster than sporadic check-ins ever could. \nEffective leadership by design prioritizes empowering others over micromanaging. Delegate meaningful responsibilities by mapping team members’ strengths and growth areas\, then create “ownership charters” that outline decision rights and success metrics for each role. Schedule regular calibration meetings to review what’s working without hovering. This approach frees you to focus on strategic work while developing your people. New managers who design delegation frameworks report higher team engagement and fewer bottlenecks\, turning potential chaos into scalable performance. \nCommunication is another area ripe for intentional design. Establish a feedback culture through structured engagements while granting room for feedback on self. Design your availability—such as office hours or response-time SLAs—to model balance and accessibility. New managers should also practice radical candour in private while celebrating wins publicly. These designed touchpoints reduce misunderstandings and create psychological safety\, essential for high-performing teams. \nFinally\, build adaptability into your leadership system through continuous learning loops. Set aside time each month for personal reflection\, peer mentoring\, or skill-building courses amongst other avenues. Treat failures as design experiments: analyse what broke\, iterate on your approach\, and document lessons. For new managers\, this meta-habit prevents stagnation and demonstrates humility. Leadership by design is never static—it evolves with evidence\, ensuring you grow alongside your team while delivering sustainable results. \nTARGET AUDIENCE \nThis webinar will be useful for new managers and supervisors from all professions who aim to enhance their individual and team leadership skills. \n CPD Units: \nMembers who attend the webinar in full will earn 2 Structured CPD Units. \nFinancial Commitment:\nThe Webinar charges are Kshs. 1\,000.
