Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi will deliver the keynote address during the 40th Edition of the annual seminar of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).

Mudavadi’s address will center on Kenya Kwanza’s economic recovery strategies and government priorities for the next financial year (2023-2024).

The event will be held at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort and Spa in Mombasa.

The seminar comes in the wake of the ongoing debate on the Finance Bill 2023 which seeks to amend various laws relating to taxes and duties with the goal of increasing government revenues.

“The Prime Cabinet Secretary will outline some of the measures the Government is putting in place to spur the economic growth in reference to the Finance Bill 2023 as the reading of the National Budget Policy Statement for the Financial Year 2023/24 draws close,” a media invite from Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary said.

The theme for this year’s ICPAK Annual Seminar is “Leading from the Front: Accounting Profession as a Catalyst for Economic Growth.”

ICPAK is an Institution mandated to protect and uphold public interest as well as develop and regulate the accountancy profession in Kenya.

It is a globally recognised professional accountancy institute boasting of a membership base of over 36,000 members.

On Tuesday, President William Ruto called on Kenya Kwanza lawmakers to pass the controversial Finance Bill, 2023 in its totality.

The budget will be read on June 15 and will be President Ruto’s first full Budget since taking over from former President Uhuru Kenyatta in September last year.

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga has threatened to call for countrywide street protests should the Finance Bill 2023 be forced on citizens through Parliament.
