SUMMARY:Taxation Workshop Coast Branch (Mandatory Training)
DESCRIPTION:THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountant Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nTaxation Workshop (Coast Branch) Mandatory Training\nDate: 4th-5th December  2025\nTime: 09.00am -3.30pm\nVenue: City Blue Creekside Hotel\, Mombasa\n(This is one of the mandatory training courses for Practicing Certificate consideration) \nOverview \nTax revenue is the main source of revenue for financing government programs and operations in any jurisdiction. In Kenya\, recent tax measures instituted by the Kenya kwanza administration have elicited robust debates among citizens sometimes leading to public protest like the one witnessed in June 2024. Opponents of the recent tax laws have pointed out that the increased taxes have led to the relocation of many multinational firms to neighbouring countries citing increased cost of doing business arising from high levels of taxation in Kenya. \nIt therefore goes without saying that taxation impacts significantly on the operating environment of businesses in any jurisdiction. In Kenya\, the various tax measures that have been put in place and increased complexities arising from compliance to the new tax laws and regulation is a major challenge to many taxpayers. This has often led to the closure of several local businesses and has adversely affected the continuity of a significant number of well-established firms. Because of this\, some firms have been forced to hire or establish tax departments to ensure tax compliance. Non-compliance to tax laws not only attracts costly tax penalties and fines but also limits business opportunities with public sector entities where tax compliance certificate is one of the key prerequisites. \nIt is against this background that the Institute has organized a two-day physical training designed to strengthen the practical knowledge and application of taxation laws for ICPAK members and relevant public finance professionals.
