SUMMARY:THE FINANCIAL REPORTING WEEK 2026 EDITION 2 (MANDATORY TRAINING) physical option
DESCRIPTION:INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nTHE FINANCIAL REPORTING WEEK 2026 EDITION 2 (MANDATORY TRAINING)\nTheme:  “Enhancing Transparency\, Sustainability\, and Accountability through High Quality Financial Reporting\nDate: 7th -11th September  2026\nVenue: Safari Park Hotel & Casino Thika Road\, Nairobi\n(This is one of the mandatory trainings for Practicing Certificate consideration) \nOVERVIEW \nFinancial reporting remains a critical pillar for transparency\, accountability\, governance\, and informed decision making within organizations\, capital markets\, and the broader economy. High quality financial reporting enhances stakeholder confidence\, supports effective stewardship of resources\, strengthens investor trust\, and promotes sound organizational and economic decision making. As the business and regulatory environment continues to evolve\, the demand for reliable\, relevant\, and decision-making useful financial information has become increasingly important. \nRecent developments in financial reporting\, including new and revised International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) such as IFRS 18\, together with the growing adoption of IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1 and IFRS S2)\, are reshaping the reporting landscape globally. In addition\, increasing stakeholder expectations around environmental\, social\, and governance (ESG) disclosures continue to expand the scope of corporate reporting beyond traditional financial statements. \nAt the same time\, technological advancements in automation\, artificial intelligence\, data analytics\, and digital reporting tools are transforming how financial information is prepared\, analyzed\, presented\, and communicated. These developments require finance professionals to continuously strengthen their technical competence\, exercise sound professional judgment\, and embrace innovative approaches to reporting and disclosure. \nDespite notable progress in reporting practices\, organizations continue to experience challenges in the application of key reporting standards and disclosure requirements\, particularly in areas such as revenue recognition\, financial instruments\, leases\, consolidation\, taxation\, employee benefits\, and sustainability related reporting. Insights from regulatory reviews and the Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards 2025 continue to highlight both significant improvements and recurring gaps in compliance\, disclosure quality\, transparency\, consistency\, and application of standards. \nThe evolving role of accountants and finance professionals now extends beyond compliance focused reporting to include broader responsibilities in governance\, sustainability reporting\, business reporting\, performance analysis\, stakeholder communication\, and strategic decision support. This transformation requires professionals to remain responsive to emerging reporting developments while maintaining integrity\, accountability\, and public trust. \nIn response to these evolving demands\, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) has organized the Annual Financial Reporting Conference to provide a comprehensive platform for finance professionals to strengthen technical expertise\, gain practical insights into emerging reporting developments\, and enhance the quality and integrity of financial reporting practices. \nThe conference will bring together standard setters\, regulators\, industry experts\, preparers of financial statements\, auditors\, and finance practitioners to facilitate technical learning\, peer engagement\, practical discussions\, and knowledge sharing aimed at advancing transparency\, sustainability\, accountability\, and best practice in financial reporting. \nKey topics to be covered \n\n The Evolving Landscape of Financial Reporting\n\n\nGlobal developments in financial reporting and IFRS updates\nIFRS 18 and emerging presentation and disclosure requirements\nAligning financial reporting with stakeholder expectations\nStrengthening trust through transparency and accountability\n\n\n Sustainability and Climate Related Reporting\n\n\nIFRS S1 and IFRS S2 implementation considerations\nClimate related disclosures and scenario analysis\nIntegrating ESG into financial and strategic reporting processes\nPractical challenges and emerging best practices\n\n\n Sustainability and Industry Based Reporting Frameworks\n\n\nIndustry specific sustainability disclosure approaches\nPractical application of sustainability reporting frameworks\nSustainability metrics and disclosure expectations\nEnhancing comparability and consistency in reporting\n\n\n IFRS 18: Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements\n\n\nGeneral presentation requirements\nCategorization in profit or loss\nManagement defined performance measures\nDisaggregation and transparency principles\n\n\n5. SUMMARY:INTERNATIONAL NON-PROFIT ACCOUNTING STANDARDS CONFERENCE (INPAS)-(physical option)
DESCRIPTION:THE INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under the Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nINTERNATIONAL NON-PROFIT ACCOUNTING STANDARDS CONFERENCE (INPAS) \nTheme: Excellence in Financial Reporting for the NPO Sector through Fortified Transparency & Accountability\nDate: 19th-21st August 2026 \nTime: 9:00 am to 03.30pm \nVenue: Safari Park Hotel & Casino\, Thika Road \nOVERVIEW \nINPAS\, or the International Non-Profit Accounting Standard\, is the world’s first globally applicable accounting standard developed specifically for non-profit organizations (NPOs). Launched in October 2025 by the IFR4NPO Project (now under INPRF)\, it was created through a six-year collaborative effort led by Humentum and CIPFA\, involving stakeholders from dozens of countries. Unlike traditional standards designed for for-profit entities\, INPAS is a standalone\, accrual-based framework tailored to the unique realities of charities\, NGOs\, foundations\, and other nonprofits. It streamlines the preparation of annual audited financial statements and grant reports\, addressing long-standing issues like fragmented reporting requirements and the complexities of restricted funding. \nOne of the primary objectives of INPAS is to enhance transparency\, accountability\, and trust in nonprofit finances worldwide. It establishes a consistent foundation for financial reporting that improves the quality and comparability of NPO statements. By providing decision-useful information\, it balances the needs of preparers (reducing administrative burden) with those of donors\, regulators\, and other stakeholders who rely on clear\, reliable data for informed decision-making. This global consistency helps NPOs operating across borders avoid the inefficiency of complying with multiple\, often conflicting national or donor-specific rules. \nINPAS places strong emphasis on the proper recognition and presentation of grants and donations\, distinguishing clearly between restricted and unrestricted funds. It offers detailed guidance on accrual accounting practices suited to nonprofits\, such as when to recognize income from multi-year grants or in-kind contributions. Additionally\, it promotes integrated narrative reporting that goes beyond numbers to cover organizational activities\, governance\, risks\, impact\, and sustainability—reflecting that nonprofit success is measured by mission outcomes as much as financial metrics. \nThe standard was designed to reduce reporting burdens while raising the bar for quality. It includes harmonized grant reporting practices (supported by a dedicated Practice Guide) that allow project-level reports to reconcile easily with whole-of-entity financial statements. This helps minimize duplicative efforts when dealing with multiple funders\, freeing up resources for programmatic work rather than excessive compliance. Many organizations\, especially smaller ones\, stand to benefit from its simplified yet robust structure compared to adapting IFRS or other commercial standards. \nAdoption of INPAS is gaining momentum\, with early adoption encouraged. It is freely available for download from the official INPRF website\, along with implementation guides. As more NPOs and regulators embrace it\, the standard is expected to elevate sector credibility\, attract more funding by building donor confidence\, and foster greater international collaboration in the nonprofit space. \nOverall\, INPAS represents a transformative step for the nonprofit sector\, filling a critical gap that existed for decades. By providing a dedicated\, practical\, and internationally recognized framework\, it empowers organizations to focus more on their missions while maintaining high standards of financial stewardship and accountability. Its development “by the sector\, for the sector” ensures relevance and usability across diverse contexts\, from large international NGOs to local community groups. It is with this in mind that ICPAK has organized the 3 days conference to focus on the following areas: \n\nINPAS Framework & Core Principles\nThe New Regulatory Environment – Updates from PBORA\nFund Accounting & Revenue Recognition– Practical Sessions\nRestricted vs. Unrestricted Funds\nGrants and Donations\nPledges in – kind and Gifts\nExpense Classification & Financial Statements \nGrant Management & Narrative Reporting \nGovernance\, Ethics & Technology in the NPO Sector\nTax Risk Management for the NPO Sector – recent caselaw\, lessons and way forward\n\n  TARGET AUDIENCE \nThis conference  will be useful to all professional Accountants with specific focus on NGOs. \n CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT UNITS (CPD UNITS): \nMembers of ICPAK and reciprocating professional bodies will be awarded 20 Structured CPD Units upon successful completion of the conference. \nFINANCIAL COMMITMENT: \n\n\n\nCategory\nCharges Physical \nVirtual \n\n\nAssociate Members\nKes 40\,000 per Delegate\nKes. 15\,000\n\n\nFull Members\nKes. 45\,000 per Delegate\nKes. 15\,000\n\n\nNon-Member\nKes. 50\,000 per Delegate\nKes. 15\,000\n\n\n\nCharges will cater stationery\, daytime meals\, learning and giveaway materials\, and e-certificates of attendance. \nONLINE BOOKING \nRegistration: Delegates are reminded to note that online booking for the workshop is mandatory on https://www.icpak.com/event-registration/Online Booking \nWe call on interested participants to note that booking for the event is available online at www.icpak.com  and will close two hours before the training session. \nNATIONAL INDUSTRIAL TRAINING AUTHORITY (NITA) REIMBURSEMENT \nThe Institute is registered as a trainer with National Industrial Training Authority. SUMMARY:THE FINANCIAL REPORTING WEEK 2026 EDITION I (MANDATORY TRAINING) physical option
DESCRIPTION:INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA\n(Established under Accountants Act\, Laws of Kenya) \nTHE FINANCIAL REPORTING WEEK 2026 EDITION I (MANDATORY TRAINING)\nTheme: Enhancing Competence and Excellence in Financial Reporting\nDate: 20th -24th April 2026\nVenue: Safari Park Hotel & Casino Thika Road\, Nairobi\n(This is one of the mandatory trainings for Practicing Certificate consideration) \nOVERVIEW \nThe landscape of financial reporting is evolving at an unprecedented pace\, driven by global regulatory reforms\, rapid technological advancements\, and the growing expectations of stakeholders for transparency\, accuracy\, and timely information. Organizations rely on financial reporting not only to meet compliance requirements but also as a strategic tool that informs decision-making\, resource allocation\, and performance evaluation. In this context\, accountants and finance professionals play a pivotal role in ensuring that financial statements are both reliable and relevant\, reflecting the true financial position and performance of the organization. \nAccurate financial reporting is essential for maintaining trust with investors\, regulators\, lenders\, and other stakeholders. Errors\, omissions\, or misstatements in financial statements can have significant legal\, reputational\, and financial consequences. This makes continuous professional development in financial reporting critical\, particularly for practicing accountants who are required to uphold the highest standards of accuracy and accountability. The Financial Reporting Week offers a structured platform for participants to deepen their understanding of current standards\, explore practical application techniques\, and engage with real-life scenarios that challenge conventional approaches. \nModern financial reporting emphasizes the integration of analytical insights and strategic foresight. Professionals are expected to go beyond recording transactions\, to interpret financial data in ways that support operational and strategic decision-making. The program equips delegates with tools and methodologies that enhance analytical capabilities\, improve reporting accuracy\, and foster a culture of proactive problem-solving. By emphasizing both technical competence and strategic thinking\, participants will be better positioned to add tangible value to their organizations. \nTechnology is reshaping the way financial information is recorded\, processed\, and presented. Automation\, artificial intelligence\, cloud-based platforms\, and data analytics are increasingly integrated into financial reporting processes to enhance efficiency\, reduce errors\, and enable real-time reporting. The training introduces participants to these modern tools\, illustrating how technology can streamline reporting processes\, improve data quality\, and support timely decision-making. Delegates gain insights on adopting technology without compromising compliance or ethical standards\, preparing them for the evolving demands of the profession. \nFinally\, professional ethics\, governance\, and transparency remain at the core of effective financial reporting. Accountants are entrusted with safeguarding the integrity of financial information\, ensuring that reports reflect true and fair views of organizational performance. It is in response to this evolving landscape that the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) has organized the Financial Reporting Week to equip participants with practical skills for preparing\, analyzing\, and presenting financial statements. The training provides a structured exploration of IFRS and IPSAS standards\, integrated and sustainability reporting\, emerging technology in reporting\, and governance and ethical considerations.
