THE 2016 ICPAK CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT – MOMBASA EDITION

The ICPAK Accounting and Finance Scholarship was launched in 2015 to support needy students from disadvantaged backgrounds pursue university education in finance or accounting related courses. Three beneficiaries were selected and are currently under the scholarship. In 2016, the Institute wishes to double the number of new beneficiaries from the initial three to six.

Funding for the scholarship is derived from members’ and other well-wishers’ contributions and through participation fees raised through our annual golf tournament held in Nairobi. Starting from 2016, ICPAK will be hosting two editions of the golf tournament, namely the Nairobi and Mombasa editions.

The Mombasa edition will be held on 17th May, 2016 at the Mombasa Golf Club starting from 10am.

ICPAK invites its members and other well-wishers to participate in this tournament towards educating future accounting practitioners.

The charges are as below;

  • Individual player: 3,000
  • 4 –Ball: 11,500

Caddie fee is Kshs. 700 per person per round. This is payable to the club.

Essential Issues in Audit: A Practical Approach- Coast Branch

Theme: Adherence to Best Practices in Audit

 Overview

To become a successful auditor, a strong base of knowledge and an understanding of the basic audit skills culminated with adherence to best practices are essential. This workshop themed ‘Adherence to Best Practices in Audit’ is designed for audit staff, new and practising auditors, as well as non-auditors with internal control responsibilities to enable them learn the ins-and-outs of an audit from beginning to end. Through interactive group discussion, and facilitator presentations, delegates will develop a foundation of knowledge that will allow them to prepare properly for and conduct successful audit from the beginning to the end. Essential interpersonal and team building skills will be discussed.

By the end of the training delegates will achieve the following objectives:

  • Widen their understanding of an audit conducted in compliance with the International Standards on Auditing
  • Perform appropriate audit procedures, including tests of controls and substantive procedures for common financial statements areas
  • Record audit work with sufficient clarity and detail and understand how to deal with audit findings and/or errors arising during the course of the audit
  • Conduct audit of small to medium-sized engagements
  • Understand how to audit complex and riskier areas such as accounting estimates, work of an expert and group audits
  • Appreciate the importance of interpersonal and team-building skills in the success of an audit.
  • Learn how to apply Innovation in Computer Audit Techniques

Target Audience: Members in practice, staff working in audit firms owned by members, associate members, auditors, preparers of IFRS financial statements, non-auditors with internal control responsibilities, academicians and consultants

 Workshop Charges: Kshs. 8,950 and Kshs. 10,950 for ICPAK members and non members respectively. Associate members will pay Kshs. 6,950. Staff from practitioners firms will enjoy the member rate. 14 CPD Hours will be awarded to members in attendance.

The workshop will be held 0n 11th – 12th February 2016 at Best Western Creekside Hotel,  Mombasa.
