ICPAK Seeks Partnership with Deputy President for Accountants’ Welfare Advancement-42nd ICPAK Annual Seminar
Today, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), represented by Vice Chairman CPA Prof. Elizabeth Kalunda, met with H.E. Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the Deputy President of Kenya, at the Official Deputy President’s residence in Karen to discuss potential collaboration between ICPAK and the government.
Key proposals presented included the need for technical support in policy formulation, effective budget execution, and robust capacity building for Audit Committees in line with the Mwongozo Code and the deputy president presiding over the 42nd Annual Seminar Edition 1.
Additionally, ICPAK highlighted the importance of amending the Accountants Act of 2008 and updating the Scheme of Service for Public Sector Accountants. This would ensure that qualified accountants in the public sector receive a legislated minimum salary, recognition of the CPA designation during recruitment and appraisal processes, and the introduction of a non-practising allowance akin to those for other professional fields, such as law and medicine.
In support, the Deputy President welcomed the opportunity to preside over ICPAK’s 42nd Annual Seminar, Edition I, scheduled for May 19th-23rd, 2025, and expressed enthusiasm for further collaboration on the Institute’s proposals.
The discussion was further enriched by the presence of senior ICPAK leadership, including FCPA Georgina Malombe, FCPA Hesbon Omollo, CPA Risper Olick, CPA Matthew Mukisu, CPA Olive Gitau, CPA Wycliff Bichanga, ICPAK CEO CPA Dr. Grace Kamau and and Prof. Isaiah I.C. Wakindiki.
