INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF KENYA

GRANTS MANAGEMENT, COMPLIANCE & FINANCIAL REPORTING SEMINAR
14th – 17th APRIL 2025
SAROVA WOODLANDS HOTEL, NAKURU
Theme: Grants Management & Compliance for Impactful Service Delivery

Introduction & Overview

A solid grants management program is critical for organizations that operate in the donor funded space. Donors are not only interested in efficient management of resources they give out, but also delivery of impact in the livelihoods of those in need. Continued channelling of resources to programs that have turned out to be of little value for money have led to donor fatigue with the funding basket growing lean over time. It therefore behoves organizations to be more proactive, efficient and innovative in their approach to projects that require donor funds.

The dynamic nature of the regulatory landscape also adds another layer of requirements that need to be met by donor funded organizations, lest they risk being non-compliant, exposing themselves to adverse ramifications. Case in point, the operationalization of the Public Benefits Organizations Act on 14th May 2024, successfully replacing the Non-Governmental Organizations Coordination Act of 1990 will have implications to donor funded organizations. Professionals will therefore have to attune themselves to the requirements of the new Act.

Additionally, the push towards uniformity in Financial Reporting by Not-for-Profit Organizations has gained significant momentum under the IFR4NPO Project and INPAG. Accomplishment of this project will be a key milestone in achieving comparability and excellence in financial reporting in the NPO space as it adopts more professional standards in how they manage, operate, and govern their respective entities. Budgeting in the donor funded space also needs to align to current dynamics taking cognizance of the geopolitical, social, and economic environment. Tying all the requirements together, there is need for donor funded organizations to be agile, innovative, and conscious of their operating environment if they are to survive in the long run.

It is in cognizance of these developments that ICPAK has organized a 3 -day seminar to discuss salient issues focusing on:
