Background
Previously part of the largest branch that comprised the entire Western and Rift Valley Provinces, Western Branch was curved out and The Western Region was further split into two to form Western Kenya and Nyanza Branches. In the Western region, CPA Bhupendra Shah served with distinction as the regional branch leader. In 2010 ICPAK revitalized the branches and at this revival CPA Shah served on an interim basis as the Branch leader for the greater Western Branch.
In 2011, branch boundaries were re-organized with Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia and Vihiga counties being hived off to form the new Western Branch. In the same year, theBranch had its first Annual Members’ Meeting during which the branch boundaries were agreed upon and an interim office nominated to run the affairs of the branch for a period of one year.
With the team in place, the branch was officially inaugurated by CPA Patrick Mtange, 2329, the then ICPAK Chairman on 30th March, 2012. The initial membership comprised 30 accountants and by the year 2015, the branch had grown its membership to 354 CPAs.
During the 8th Annual Members Meeting held on 6th April 2018, the then ICPAK Council Chairman, FCPA Julius Mwatu, launched the Western Branch Physical Office. This becomes the third branch office.
