ISA 220- Quality control for an audit of Financial Statements Webinar
Date: 10th November  2026
Time: 04.00pm-06.00pm
Delivery Mode: Virtual

Overview

The quality of an audit is fundamental to maintaining public trust in the accountancy profession and enhancing confidence in financial reporting. In an increasingly complex business environment characterized by evolving regulatory requirements, technological advancements, heightened stakeholder expectations, and emerging risks, audit firms and engagement teams are under greater pressure to consistently deliver high-quality audit engagements.

Recognizing the need to strengthen audit quality, the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) introduced a new suite of quality management standards, including International Standard on Auditing (ISA) 220, Quality Management for an Audit of Financial Statements. The revised standard shifts the focus from traditional quality control procedures to a proactive and risk-based approach to quality management at the engagement level.

ISA 220 places greater responsibility on the engagement partner for managing and achieving quality throughout the audit engagement. The standard emphasizes leadership, professional skepticism, appropriate direction and supervision of engagement teams, effective use of resources, and ongoing evaluation of whether quality objectives are being achieved. It also aligns with International Standard on Quality Management ISQM 1 and ISQM 2, creating a comprehensive framework for managing audit quality at both the firm and engagement levels.

As firms continue to implement quality management systems, it is essential for engagement partners, managers, auditors, and quality reviewers to understand their responsibilities under ISA 220 and how these requirements translate into practical actions throughout the audit lifecycle. Effective application of the standard contributes to improved audit execution, stronger documentation, enhanced professional judgment, and greater confidence in audit opinions.

This webinar will provide participants with practical insights into the requirements of ISA 220 (Revised), the role of the engagement partner in achieving audit quality, and best practices for embedding quality management into audit engagements across different jurisdictions and practice environments.
